HTLC Renovations

We are going to do some major upgrades to our facilities over the next few months.
The Sanctuary Refurbishment Project should be completed by Ash Wednesday, February 21st

Fellowship Hall
1. A new slate-pattern vinyl floor covering has been installed in the kitchen.

2. The cabinets and drawers have been cleaned.

3. The cabinets and drawers now have labels identifying their contents.

4. The refrigerator interior has been cleaned.

5. The kitchen ceiling has been repainted.

6. The range-fan duct door has been repaired so that hot air from cooking is vented to the outside.

7. A fan has been added which vents heat from the kitchen to the furnace cold air return in the utility room.

8. The ladies rest room has a new décor with scenic wall paintings.

9. The men’s rest room received a new coat of paint.

10. All electrical switches have been replaced with modern style silent switches.

11. A new carpet has been installed in the main meeting room and hallway. It is similar in color to the previous carpet; a medium blue to complement the wall and drapery color.

12. The stage curtains have been dry cleaned. Most of the wood paneling has been cleaned and a wood polish applied.

13. The baseboards and walls have been repainted where needed.

14. The doors to the kitchen and into the hall have been refinished.

15. Several of the old, no longer in use, hot water radiators have been removed.

16. The small rooms on the side of the stage have been painted and carpeted.

17. A new sodium vapor light has been installed above the side door to improve the outdoor lighting.

18. A new light fixture has been installed at the front door replacing the rusted out one.

19. The sidewalks and wood fence and railing have been power washed to remove dirt and mildew.

Sanctuary Project
An extensive sanctuary refurbishment project was approved by the congregation at the November meeting. Work will start in the first week of January 2007 and is planned to be completed near the end of February 2007, hopefully for Ash-Wednesday. While work is being done in the sanctuary church services will be held in the Fellowship Hall.

1. The twenty-eight pews will be disassembled in the Sanctuary, removed and transported to a church furniture manufacturer in Clinton, NC, who will completely refinish them. The pews will then be sanded, repaired as needed, stained and coated with a lacquer finish. Seat cushions and kneeler covers will also be replaced. New 2” foam cushions, as well as new kneelers and new kneeler hardware will be used.

2. The entire sanctuary ceiling will be repaired by installing painted foam panels to conceal the damaged areas.

3. The walls in the sanctuary and its adjacent rooms, as well as the wood trim on the lower walls and door frames will receive new coats of paint.

4. The ceiling in the cove above the alter will have the acoustic tile removed and will be plastered and painted to match the rest of the sanctuary.

5. While the pews are out being refinished, the carpet will be removed and the floor area beneath the pews will be sanded and refinished.

6. A new carpet, similar in color to the present carpet will be installed in the sanctuary (aisle and front), the narthex and adjacent rooms, the sacristy and the opposite room. No carpet will be installed beneath the pews which will improve the acoustics.

Work will begin on the Sanctuary Refurbishment project in early January 2007.  Contracts have been awarded for the following work:

Pew Refinishing - Kivett's Inc.,  Clinton, NC

Painting - Clemmon's Painting & Remodeling, Anderson, SC

Ceiling - 1st Quality Home Improvement (Larry  Wood), Anderson, SC

Floor Refinishing - Ashley Wood Flooring Services, Inc., Anderson, SC

Holy Trinity volunteers will be responsible for removing all loose items from the sanctuary and adjacent rooms and for setting up the Fellowship Hall for worship services during the week of January 2nd.  If you are able to help with these activities, please contact Nancy Korn or Sue Rasche with the Worship Committee and/or Ernie Thoms with the Property Committee.
