Holy Trinity
Lutheran Church is a Congregation of the South Carolina Synod of
the Evangelical Lutheran
Church in America (ELCA). Historically, Holy Trinity is known
as a servant church. Its members are committed to sharing actively
their spiritual and their material blessings with others, both locally
and globally.
Who are Lutherans?
Lutherans are
part of the one, holy, catholic, and apostolic church established
by Jesus Christ. They trace their history back to the time of the
Apostles. They adhere to the truths revealed in the New Testament
and first summarized in the Apostles' Creed.
While Lutherans
take their name from Martin Luther, the 16th century reformer, their
faith centers in Jesus Christ, the Son of God and Savior of the
world. Lutherans acknowledge the Holy Scriptures as the norm for
the faith and life of the church...the "sole authority for
faith and life."
Lutherans were
the first Protestants, people who "protested" against
the errors and corruption in the established church of their day.
The name "Lutheran" was first applied to them in a derogatory
way, but was soon proudly accepted by the followers of the great
reformer.
