Blood
Drive
Holy Trinity sponsors a Blood Drive once or more each year at the
church, cooperating with the Anmed blood center. Members may donate
more often at the Hospital, making sure to note that the donation
is for Holy Trinity. The congregation is part of the Blood Assurance
Program which enables members in need of transfusions to receive
them without cost.
Cange,
Haiti Mission
Holy Trinity is part of a co denominational sponsorship of the
community of Cange, Haiti. Our mission to this community has
included a building of a water system, the sponsorship of a new
school for Bas (lower) Cange. New projects for the area
include a hydroelectric project to provide the area with much needed
electricity. Currently, the only electricity in the area is
from 2 small diesel generators and is available only to the hospital
and school inside the main complex.
ELCA
World Hunger Appeal
The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America established a World Hunger
Program...
- Because
the Holy Spirit calls us to share in God's continuing care for
all peope and for the entire creation;
- Because
God asks us to love our neighbors as Christ loves us; and
- Because
God places us in a global neighborhood, with neighbors near and
far who suffer hunger & oppression.
The
Hunger Appeal has four methods of carrying out its work:
- Providing
immediate relief for people in need
- Providing
the means for long-term, substainable development for whole communities
- Advocating
for justice
- Educating
members of the ELCA in awareness of issues relating to hunger,
poverty and justice
Global
Missions
The mission of Global Missions Fellowship is to mobilize the body
of Christ around the world so that a self-prepetuating indigenous
church planting movement is ignited in every nation.
Habitat
for Humanity
Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI) is a nonprofit, ecumenical
Christian housing ministry. HFHI seeks to eliminate poverty housing
and homelessness from the world, and to make decent shelter a matter
of conscience and action. Habitat invites people of all backgrounds,
races and religions to build houses together in partnership with
families in need. Habitat has built more than 100,000 houses around
the world, providing more than 500,000 people in more than 2,000
communities with safe, decent, affordable shelter. HFHI was founded
in 1976 by Millard Fuller along with his wife Linda.

Meals
on Wheels
The Meals On Wheels Association of America represents those who
provide congregate and home-delivered meals services to people in
need. Their mission is to provide visionary leadership and professional
training, and to develop partnerships that will ensure the provision
of quality nutrition services.
Souper
Bowl Sunday
The "Souper Bowl" seeks to "love the Lord our God and love our neighbors"
by encouraging people to give one dollar each as they leave worship
on ( or near) Super Bowl Sunday. Young people from congregations
in all parts of the country stand at sanctuary exits and receive
the dollar donations in large soup pots. All the money and any food
collected is then sent directly to a charity selected by each group.
Organizers do not touch the proceeds, only asking that participants
report the amount of their collection by calling 800-358-SOUP on
game day. This enables the national totals to be determined.
Young
Life
Young Life, which started in Anderson Spring 2001, is a ministry
for high school kids and Wyldlife. It is aimed at middle school
kids. Young Life and Wyldlife has volunteer leaders, all are Clemson
students here, that go into the high schools and middle schools
to meet kids. They hang out with kids and get to know them.
Once
a week there is "Club," a gathering to do silly skits,
sing songs and hear a message about Christ. This does not take the
place of church or youth group. Their main goal is to reach out
to unchurched kids, so that they can learn what an awesome God there
is and that he can be part of their life in a personal way.
Ed
King is our area director. Ed oversees all the leaders. Young Life
is in Seneca, Daniel, Pendelton, Easley, Westside, Hanna high, and
one middle school so far, McCants. So Young Life is active in 6
high schools, one middle school and has at least 60 leaders. The
office at Holy Trinity serves as Ed's office with Susan Ray as his
administrative assistant.
